Sundance
Sundance, nestled among some of the most spectacular mountain and rustic scenery, is home of the Sundance Mountain Ski Resort is a year-round community that spans over 5,000 acres of Mount Timpanogos (nearly 12,000-foot peak) and the Wasatch Range and is located approximately 12 miles northeast of Provo, Utah and approximately 30 miles south of Park City, Utah. In 1968, Robert Redford purchased the land, named it after the role he played in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and created the Sundance Mountain Resort, non-profit Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival. In 2020, Robert Redford announced the sale of the Sundance Mountain Resort to a new entity that have committed to continuing the past policies of land preservation and responsible development.
During the winter months Sundance Mountain Ski Resort provides ski trails for a variety of levels. There are approximately 20% beginner, 40% intermediate and 50% advance trails. During the rest of the year people can enjoy dining, hiking, biking, horseback riding and riding the 6th longest and most vertical drop zip line in the United States.
Real estate in Sundance is comprised of gorgeous mountain homes, charming cabins and cottage-style condos. Homesite lots to build on are a rare find but do occasionally become available. Prices can range from $400,000 for a small, rustic cabin to multi-million dollars for a prestigious mountain home.
There are approximately 200 privately owned cabins in Sundance. There are full-time and part-time residents and income-producing properties. These cabins vary greatly in size, style and location and cater to full-time, part-time residents and some are income producing.
There three Sundance Cottage developments. There are 38 rustic-style Mandan Cottages ranging in size from studios to two and three bedrooms. The 16, southwestern-style River Run Cottages are located on the North Fork Creek. They also are comprised of studios, one, two and three bedrooms. The Pines Cottages are located in a grouping of 11 cottages alongside a stream and creating a sense of their own “village”. All of these cottages are one-bedroom with spacious bathrooms.
The Sundance area caters to a variety of tastes and styles, big and small and offers year-round views and activities for the entire family.
